Owners Of Undeclared Guns Would Face Anti-Terrorism Law- NW Governor

By Ignatius Nji

North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique has called on all owners of guns to declare them for authorization by the Senior Divisional Officers. Failure to carry out this exercise which is in keeping with the law on possession of firearms, such persons if caught would be triad under the newly crafted law on anti-terrorism. The Chief executive equally announced that unlike before any such person would be tried in the newly created military tribunal in Bamenda.
Speaking in Boyo Division during his economic tour combing all nooks and crannies to abreast self and the State of Cameroon of the situation on the ground. The visit by the Chief executive officer accompanied by a hug entourage of collaborators braved it to Fonfuka and Konene the chief towns of Bum Sub-Division plying the rugged hilly terrain on roads one can conveniently described as cow foot path but for the ongoing constructed road work from Fundong to Fonfuka to pass through Konene. In the days ahead the people of this locality would no longer have to pass through four Divisions to get to Fundong. The rich natural resources of the area would be exploited especially in the agricultural sector to fullest given the easy access goods from farms to markets.
Commenting on the guns threatening incident that occurred during a visit of the two SDOs from Boyo and Donga Mantung to the site of the disputed Kichako village, Governor Lele L’Afrique was blank that politicians should stop fuelling conflict on a people that are living peace. He called on all those who have guns to declare them with the administration for authorization and control and that his administration would not tolerate any act of vandalism especially at this time that the country is faced with the challenge of fighting Boko Haram. The Governor asked a rhetorical question as to who knows where the grave of the great grand fathers father of the people fighting today is located. He said nobody knows where the people would be two hundred years from today given the migration nature of the people.
Konene which is the economic capital of Bum Sub-Division also play host to criminal activities such as cattle rustling and arm robbery in broad day light. With this reputation the Governor called on the traditional rulers to ensure that peace and harmony and equally sounded a warning for the population to be alert and report any strange activities especially any suspected militant of the dreaded Boko Haram.
The Governor rounded his three days economic tour in the Division accompanied by Hon. Evaristus Njong and the emblematic Senator Wanlo John, by visiting some government structures such as schools and councils, private initiatives such the cooperatives smeared by managerial and financial quagmire, pig farms and MIFAGIC training center in Belo. Of the four Sub-Divisions, Fundong was least tedious in terms of state of roads given that the Mayor Ndang Denis Awoh is living to expectation with his crusade to disenclave his municipality. The Governor made a stop at the tertiary cattle ranch in Njinikom run by the Saint Theresia Orphanage to provide milk and meat for the orphans. An on the spot offertory for the kids was initiated by the chief executive who pleaded with his collaborators to chip in for the needy kids found at the center. He promised to always ensure government assistance to the center when ever the means are available given that the needs of the orphanage are enormous. This was in response to the catalogue of challenges faced with by the Reverend Sisters running the center.
