A high powered delegation
from the Prime Ministry headed by the chairman of the execution committee for
emergency projects, Mr. Elanga Obam Georges who is technical adviser of the PM
was in Bamenda on March 12 2015 to make public the package for North West.
Accompanied by Governor Lele L’afrique Adolphe and the SDO for Mezam Nguele
Nguele Felix, the head of mission paid a site visit to the area reserved for
the construction of a referral hospital and low cost houses in Bamenda III
Sub-Division.
During a working session
at the Governor’s conference hall, Mr. Elanga Obam George explained how this
emergency plan project looks like and that the project shall be executed
concomitantly with those of the national budget. The package has road constructions,
electricity expansion, and provision of boreholes, construct low cost houses,
classrooms and medical facilities. Of the 4000 boreholes for the entire nation,
North West would have 100 boreholes constructed in needy communities in the
rural areas. The Referral hospital would cost the State FCFA 15 Billion and low
cost houses would cost FCFA 5 Billion.
The committee chair called
on the Government Delegate of the Bamenda City to accompany the project
realization by providing access roads to areas earmarked for project execution.
The emergency projects are equally aimed at developing border towns by means of
providing access roads and electricity expansion. To the beneficiary
population, Mr. Elanga beckoned on everybody to be participatory in the project
executions which are special package from the Head of State to ensure emergence
by 2035. He made an appraisal of the excitement with which the beneficiary
stakeholders are beaming with expectation meaning the emergency projects are
highly welcomed.
On the sidelines of this
emergency project Eden was whispered to that some 50km of road shall be tarred
beginning from Kumbo towards Nkambe on the ring road. The Menchum
hydro-electricity project which is in the 2015 budget shall also cater for the
tarring of the stretch from Bafut to Wum. The people of these areas would heave
a sigh of relief if finally these stretches are tarred with the hope that the
remaining Nkambe-Misaje to Wum would be tarred in the days ahead.
