Bamenda City Council To Drag Ayaba Hotel To Courts Over Unpaid Dividends of 1% Shares

Embittered Councilors of the Bamenda City Council made up of Councilors of both the SDF and CPDM run councils within the city, have empowered the Government Delegate Vincent Ndumu Nji to drag the Ayaba Hotel management to Courts for a redress of unpaid dividends on the City Council’s 1% shares. This government owned hotel constructed some 33 years ago is said not to have paid a dime to the then Bamenda urban council the present day City Council. Councilors were very bitter during the mid year evaluation session when it was reported that Ayaba hotel management is still dragging its feet on the issue.
The Government Delegate however pointed out that the Councilors are  right to be very worried given the financial constrain to carry out earmarked projects within the city. On his part he shall still meet the management of the hotel to talk things out exhausting every possible instrument that leads to peaceful settlement thereafter a suit would be file in that respect. On the issue of the floods that hit below Foncha on Sunday night leaving many families stranded, Councilors raised worries as to whether those cohabiting in this swampy area were issued building permit talk less having a land title. The Government Delegate assured the public that soon the area would be fitted with drainage system. The roads in Bamenda city are still an eye soar given the depth of potholes found the patchy roads. The City Boss declared that the World Bank would soon finance road projects within the city. The newly constructed market stalls have over 300 unoccupied stalls and yet hawkers prefer hawking on the streets. These sheds are said to cost just FCFA 20.000 per month yet the traders complain that the colossal sums with some blown out of proportion such as FCFA 6 Million as advance payment is what scares away potential occupants. Following the circular by the Prime Minister under the decentralization program and ordering the City Councils nationwide to hands off control over Markets.
