Amongst some of the security measures put in place in the
fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the North West Region, is a change of
attitude that reigns supreme on the list presented by the Regional Delegate of
National Security, Gosmo Emil during an enlarge security meeting convened by
North West Governor Adolphe Lele L’afrique on Monday 3 2015.
Accordingly, the recent trend of adults carrying about school
bags on their backs probably containing a laptop shall hence constitute a
security threat following the recent waves of suicide bombing orchestrated by
the Boko Haram insurgents in the North of Cameroon. The population is called
upon to be more vigilant and not hesitate to denounce any suspicious activity
noticed in the neighborhoods. The public was called upon not shy away from
reporting for fear of being attacked by the culprits as the forces of law and
order would conceal the identities of those who denounce criminal activities.
Anybody wearing outfit that is protruded and unshaped in a way would be
suspected and persons behaving funny like fidgeting in a shop or public place
and those pushing and forcing their way through in a crowd shall be branded a
suspect. Anybody wearing sweat dresses in hot climate and those pretending to
mad whereas they are known to be normal fall on the list of suspect and those
wearing very strange perfume or adorned with strong smelling medicine or shaved
in a strange manner are signals that he or she is heaven bound thereby ready to
blow self and target population up.
In as much as
unauthorized crowded assemblies are a problem today, standing in isolation in a
public place is also read as security threat given that it is one of the
characteristics displayed of suicide bombers on mission.
Governor Lele L’afrique reveal a shocking truth that North
West is the next target by these Boko Haram reasons why the population in
collaboration have to plan ahead and to beat them in their game. After meeting
with 10 other Governors from Nigeria during President Buhari’s visit to
Cameroon, the Chief Executive said they had a lot of exchange of information
and encourage same in the region. President Biya equally lauded the effort put
in by North Westerners in this fight saying more was expected in the days
ahead. The traditional leaders were also called upon top initiate security
measures in the various communities. Know thyself and know thy neighbor
ascertaining what he or she does for a living. Children should be cautioned not
to accept gifts or serve as parcel delivery agents.
