Mayor Tanjong Martin of
Tubah Council
In no distant time Tubah
Municipality would play host to the huge
University Student population of Cameroon who shall troop in for the University
games at the University of Bamenda. The Council in bid to make ready the basics
for such an occasion is in a mad rush to provide adequate water and electricity
supply with good roads in the municipality. With this hot recipes in thier
hands given that time is not on their side, Mayor Tanjong Martin, called
Councilors to ensure that projects geared toward this objective which are
ongoing should be monitored.
The mayor also decried the nonchalant
attitude of some villages in the payment of council taxes and wondered aloud
how the people in such village expect the Council to get resources from to
carryout the much needed development in their area. To him the development of
the municipality largely depends on the Councilors and the population of
municipality who generously mobilize resources from the various constituencies
to the council treasury for projects realization. He reiterated that people can
not expect development without their own financial contributions. He lauded
PNDP for jealously accompanying the council in its development strides in the
last three years but warn some Journalists and villagers who go harrassing or
threatening this partner in demand for village development funds. The
Mayor thanked the Fon of Bambili for donating material worth FCFA 500.000 to the
council to continue in its drive to transform the municipality. Tubah Council
now has an Internal Tenders Board put in place, this the Mayor reported to
Councilors during the joint second and third ordinary session that took place
recently.
Given that it is the close of 2016
fiscal year, the Mayor narrated a litany of projects realized within the year
saying Tubah was able to secure and realize some eight projects under the
Public investment Budget. These were construction and equipment of classrooms,
extension of water network and support to competitors for the most attractive
livestock while road maintenance about to start. The council on her own funded
over 17 projects thus purchase of two 20 tons trucks for sand and refuse
collection, extension of electricity and repair of street lights. Construction
of bridges and market sheds and shed for
recycling process, donation of building materials to schools and financial
