Nkambe: FAINAP Lobbies LIFIDEP To Set Up FCFA 700 Million Worth Milk Processing Plant

Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry , FAINAP President Address Stakeholders
Under the advocacy of the Frontier Agro-Industrial Project with acronym FAINAP aimed at encouraging high production to enable the proccessing project sustained, the Livestock and Fisheries Development LIFIDEP shall set up a milk processing plant worth FCFA 700 Million at the industrial zone located between Nkambe and Binshua by 2017. Still under LIFIDEP project  a maize storage facility shall be constructed at FCFA 30 Million at Nguu, construct classrooms and grade roads. LIFIDEP has also put at the disposal of farmers FCFA 750 Million as small microcredit at 5% interest rate though the main funding body Islamic Development Bank IDB had insisted that this loan should be interest free following the sharia law.
This huge package was made public to the population of Donga Mantung Division during the launching of the third phase of the FAINAP project which is the cattle component after the maize and palm oil components which have already taken roots with the setting up of maize seed farms and palm nuseries by the local farmers. According to the Founder and President of FAINAP, Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry who was not only speaking in his capacity as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Mines, Industries and Technological Development but as a son of the soil whose Division has been lagging behind though rich in natural resources, said his interest is that of inciting local production in to an industrial scale in order to feed the transformatory plants that would be set up in the industrial zone in Nkambe. That is the reason why the various sectors are involved to give the technical knowhow in order to realize the big dream of making people of his Division live a fulfilled lives both in wealth and health.
Speaking in Nkambe on November 2, 2016, FAINAP President reminded the people that Donga Mantung Division is the only area in the country where tea is cultivated in cold climate, oil Palms are planted in hot climate and maize is also cultivated and at the same time has one of the best climate where cattle is reared. FAINAP was concieved to boost and  increase production and make use of the ready huge market in the area and Donga Mantung happens to have over 4540 square Kilometers of land good enough to carry out such a project. This project of setting up processing plant in Nkambe would reverse to trend of transporting raw materials to the coastal towns.  Inorder to sustain the processing plants, there is need for storage facilities that would be constructed in all five Sub Division depending on the type of crop production. Taking corn alone, Dr. Fuh said it can be transformed in to more than 30 different products and MINMIDT has elaborated on what corn can be transformed in to thus Flour, starch, vegetable oil and animal feed. To him the greatest lie he was ever told was that cocoa can only be transformed in to chocolate which today the philosophy has changed. Cocoa farmers take years to harvest but maize takes averagely three months from planting to harvest which makes it faster to make money by producing more. Guinness brewing company is in search of huge quantity of corn for its plant.
FAINAP President announced to potential farmers of oil palm that already 50000 seedings would be available for distribution at subsidized prices by 2017 while 100000 same seeds would be available by 2018 while two oil palm processing plants are underway given the high demand for palm oil from Nigeria. He called on the Traditional rulers to make available land for the cultivation given that FAINAP is prospecting to have at its disposal 50000 hectares in five years.
