The President of the Melim Cultural and Development
Association, MECUDA, Dr. Mborong Venasius cum lecturer at the University of
Buea in the faculty of Engineering sciences has joined his voice to that of the
Senior Divisional Officer of Bui, Theophile Nzeki and the Paramount Ruler of
Nso, HRM Fon Sehm Mbinglo II, to call on the youths of Bui Division to be on
the watch out against strange activities from strange people. This call on
youths to be on high alert was made after a grand support march for the
Cameroon arm forces fighting against Boko Haram by the people of Nso from Kumbo
to Melim as they launch the youth week celebration and creation of a youth day
center at Melim.
The mass turn out for the multiple occasion in Melim
according to the National President of MECUDA, was an opportunity for the
people of Melim and Bui is general to raise their voices against the devilish
sect Boko Haram. The events started off as to inaugurate a youth day center in
Melim and later turn out that the Youth week in Bui would be launched in Melim
and before the issue of support march against Boko Haram with an ecumenical
service also queued in making the event of the day multifold. This day Saturday
February 7, 2015 shall go down in history as a day which Melim which means one
heart came out with the entire Bui people to denounce the dreaded sect
beseeching the country’s borders up North. Mayor Njong Donatus of the SDF run
Council in Kumbo reminded his people that the Nso man has a history of fighting
away the Germans and it is that same spirit that the Nso man shall fight and
defeat Boko Haram.
On his part the Senior Divisional officer of Bui, Theophile
Nzeki, said as agreed in the Nto’o Nso on June 20 2014, this enemy would never
enter Bui. The Bui people and Nso people in particular have by their massive
turn out confirm that commitment to stand against Boko Haram. The people as
reiterated by the Mayor are suddenly behind the army in support of the fight
against Boko Haram. Following the theme of the day that; youth and preservation
of peace for the emergent Cameroon is by extension stating that the youth are
to support the arm forces in the fight against this common enemy.
MECUDA national President Dr. Mborong Venasius seized the
opportunity to thank government for the various developmental projects realized
in Melim and further asked government to re-enforce the village water scheme to
extend water supply, construct additional classrooms at GHS/GS Melim and create
a Government Common entrance and first school leaving examination center in
Melim. He assured the SDO of that the people of Melim shall continue to support
the administration and ensure peace in the village together with the
traditional Council. Reasons why the youths are placed on high alert to be
vigilant on person coming in and those going out and to report to the forces of
law and order any strange activities taking place in the area.
