Cameroon Is A Pagan State-Fru Ndi

By Ignatius Nji
Ni John Fru Ndi SDF Chieftain

The oneness with which Cameroonians have come together and are pledging support for the arm forces combating the criminal sect Boko Haram whose presence and mayhem caused on the country’s borders are being felt and touched by Cameroonians up North, is highly applauded by all and sundry. The numerous inter religious prayer sessions organized around the country with government official championing, is a call for concern to a people who were before now lukewarm of prayers in public ceremonies.

Chairman Fru Ndi of the Social Democratic Front party wonders aloud what a turn around, for Cameroon is a pagan State and that if it had to take the coming of the Boko Haram for Cameroonians to seek the face of God then it is a good thing. Speaking to the Press at his Ntarinkon Residence in Bamenda on Monday 9 2015 while addressing the Cameroon youth eve to Youth Day celebration, the Chairman reiterated that public officials behaved as if God does not exist and cited a case where in 1991 during the tripartite talks in Yaounde where meetings went on for two days without a word of prayer at the opening with Clergymen in session. He came in on the third day and enquired whether prayers had been offered and Christian Cardinal Tumi and Reverend Awasum the Moderator responded in the negative. Fru Ndi then wondered aloud how people can want to decide the future of a nation without calling on the Lord in prayers. As a practicing Christian, the chairman recited a verse in the Bible which says, “if the lord does not build a house the labourers labour in vain.” At that moment he asked that the Clergymen should and prayers were offered then the meeting continued.” Though it ended the way it did with resolutions of the tripartite starched in the drawers with Cameroonians still expecting that the outcome be implemented 21 years after.
Dwelling on the present predicament facing the country, Chairman Fru Ndi described terrorism as an evil geared towards undermining the integrity of the nation. He furthered that Boko Haram members want to frustrate the efforts Cameroonians made since colonization to build the nation reasons why it is incumbent for all Cameroonian to mobilize and stand against this calamity. According to leader of the main opposition party SDF, the response to this type threat cannot only be military but national and economical as well due to the misery and displacement in the area. Fru Ndi did condemned what happened in the South where a handful of misguided individuals with evil intent to manipulate one part of the country against the other.
Chairman Fru Ndi called on the youths to remain hopeful though the future is not certain. The responsibility of the SDF is to keep the fire of hope burning notwithstanding the hardship ushered in by the Biya regime whose only prime objective is to remain in power. SDF Chieftain assured the youths that Mr. Paul Biya is not unbeatable. He condemned tribalism which is root cause to all hatred and division witnessed among citizen to this day. Fru Ndi urged the youth to shun practices that can jeopardize stability. It was out of the confidence in the youth that SDF was born in 1990 and because of the high confidence the price paid for freedom was a violent crack down that led to massacre by the regime in place.
