NW Governor Lele L'afrique Adolphe
In spite national security uncertainty as provoked by the terrorist
sect in the North Region of Cameroon, North West Governor Adolphe Lele
L’afrique has assured the population of the region to remain certain of ample
security. Speaking in Nkambe on June 4th after a regional security
coordination meeting with all seven Senior Divisional officers along side other
security collaborators, the Chief Executive said all dispositions have been put
in place to tackle any security challenge that can ensue.
Some of security challenges that were earmarked and
deliberated upon were; land disputes, inter-tribal issues, highway robbery,
trans-border security challenges and the fight against terrorism. The Governor
lauded the solidarity expressed by people of the North West in the fight
against Boko Haram. Hear him, “I want to first of all thank the mobilization by
the population of the North West Regions especially the Traditional Rulers,
Political party leaders and civil society for not only in praying for the
soldier at the war front but putting together both financial and material
support to the victims of Boko Haram of insurgents in the North of the country.
He says the administration of the North West has set up a security devise to
ensure a long lasting peace in the Region counting on the collaboration of all
the stakeholders such as the population, the administration, Forces of law and
order, political party leaders, Traditional Rulers and Cleric. With these
measures in place the Chief Executive is optimistic that the Region can
maintain a long lasting peace.
Quizzed as to whether the black out of the Division for over
18 hours of his stay there posed as challenge that could be considered as a
security concern. The Governor intimated that social concerns were part of the
deliberation where water and electricity outages are affecting some areas in
the Region. The poor state of farms to markets roads and other major roads that
warrant intervention to smoothen communication constituted part of the
discussions. The Governor revealed that the Government of Cameroon in
partnership with the World Bank has an agreement to carry out renovation works
on the stretch of road Yaoundé/Bamenda. Some these worries can be tackled by
local councils and some at the level of the Region and the issue of electricity
and water outages can only be handled by ENEO and CDE. A team from the African
Development Bank to have visited the Region recently to see how to construct a
slaughter house in Bamenda. This is coming just after they financed the construction
of the Bamenda/Ekok road and opening a by-pass road through Bali to Bamenda to
avoid traffic jam in to the city. Some roads in the city of Bamenda are equally
going to receive facelift given that deep gutters are littered every two meters
drive. Other concerns shall be addressed in the 2015 emergency plan put in
place with instructions from the Head of State Paul Biya.
