Late John Asoh Emboat Murdered in cold blood
Serial
killing suspected in the family as John Asoh Emboat a native of Oshie aged
about 70, a retired nurse and now a farmer still running a small clinic in Oshie village was found dead in his own house in Bamenda. The said murder
case was orchestrated by unknown assailants in Bamenda recently at his Fish
Pond residence. Police sources say he was physically murdered by use of machetes
given the wounds found all over his head with blood oozing from his body.
On
the spot reports revealed that, on that fateful day, late John Asoh Emboat had
just arrived from Oshie village in Momo Division and had a nice hair cut and
was seen light heartedly conversing with neighbours before retiring in his room. Late John
was in his house alone after bidding good night to his neighbors only for these
neighbors to be wakened in the middle of the night by shouts and struggles between John
Asoh Emboat and the suspected assailants. Before the neighbors could intervene, the assailants
had escaped leaving John Asoh in a pool of his own blood oozing from his head and
before long he gave up the ghost still putting his shoes. The Police were alerted but they did not come
immediately to the scene but made their report, opening an investigation to
track down the killers. John Asoh who had developed high blood pressure and was hypertensive due the
death of his wife, had come to town that fateful day to buy his drugs and had
taken only two tablets out of the three packets found fallen off his trouser
pockets.
Family
sources related to the press that John Asoh is the third to die mysteriously in
the family where he was just made a family head and was chairman of Oshie village Council. In
2010, his wife, Akwi Elizbeth Asoh who was not sick, died mysteriously and
later his daughter Philomina Asoh also died in an unexplained circumstance in
2013. When John Asoh’s wife died in 2010 not long after he was officially
coronated as family head to manage a large family with very large parcels of
landed property and plantations, the family suspected fowl play and there was
tension in the family. It is alleged that in the course of trying to find out the cause of what had
happened to his wife, John Asoh had exchanged bitter words with some members of
his family and they issued out threats on his life which he took them for granted.
Late
John Asoh’s first son who is the constitutional heir, Wilson Ekanyie Ashu, had long disappeared from the village. Before 2006 he was working as private
Secretary to the Inspector General in the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Fru
Jonathan who is presently Inspector general in the Ministry of Public Contract. It is reported that he
absconded his job in fear of threats and could not even attend the mother's burial in 2010. These threats were taken lightly until John Asoh’s daughter Philomina Asoh who was a talkative
with a carefree spirit followed the mother to the grave.

The situation of Wilson Ekanyie Ashu was further drastically compounded by his political activities .As a staunch militant and supporter of the opposition SDF party in an area considered a fief of the ruling CPDM party, he was seen to be the brain behind the progress of the SDF in the area. To make matters worse, Wilson Ekanyie Ashu was suspected to be funding the opposition party in the area which was seen as compromising the chances of many CPDM gurus from attaining their objective one of which is business magnate, and owner of the National Financial Credit bank, Zacharias Awanga from becoming a senator in Cameroon’ s first ever Senate. It is very obvious that security services refused to do their job to investigate these serial killings. BN. was made to understand that none of the Police elements in Bamenda would want to risk and be identified with Wilson Ashu in any form, not to talk of stepping on the toes of the very dreaded Zacharias Awanga who can open all the doors in Yaounde to cause punishment to these security officials. The other children of John Emboat Asoh, saw death coming their way and decided to stop going to the village. One year after Philomina Asoh died, her father was found dead in his living room in Bamenda recently. This has generated more fear amongst the immediate family of late John Asoh Emboat

In a related story Wilson had tried to untangle a corruption network in his ministry but did not know that the network was too strong for him and he instead became a victim of Police harassment and torture on trump up charges masterminded by members of the corruption network. Family sources say Wilson fled from yaounde to Bamenda and later South West region and later cut communication till date. According to Francis Ekanya, a nephew to John Asoh, it is feared that some under hands
are bent on wiping out John Asoh’s
family for reasons that are not yet clear because no one can say for
sure whether it is a family problem or a political war. Presently everybody in
the family is living in fear as nobody knows who shall be the next. At the time
we went to Press, no body had been apprehended in connection to the murder and
no fresh report had been gotten from the investigators. All attempts to get
Wilson Ekanyie Ashu or even trace his whereabouts to comment on the issue failed as he
is said to have absconded to an unknown destination.
